What an incredible weekend.
I am continuously amazed at the level of support from all reaches of our community in effort to establish The BARN OPERA House. The BARN OPERA team expected a few dedicated supporters to be able to come at such short notice to help clear and sweep, and we expected to be able to have the barn swept and cleared by sunday afternoon.
Much to all of our surprise, an army of supporters of BARN OPERA arrived on the scene, and in 4 hours was able to do what we HOPED to be able to complete in 2 days! The next morning we were able to begin to frame in walls, and make dynamic decisions that allowed us to see the theatre taking shape. By delineating physical space, we could tell with quantifiable data, exactly how our 2-dimensional drawings and plans would exist in a 3-dimensional world.
We continue to move forward and every day ends with us closer and closer to our intended opening date!!
We are so looking forward to welcoming you all to the BARN OPERA House later this spring!
As I type, I cannot believe that my fingers are finally able to write this: WE HAVE RECEIVED OUR ACT 250 PERMIT!
After many months of work satisfying requirements at the state and local level, we have finally gotten the state sanction to begin the physical creation of The BARN OPERA House!!
We have established this weekend as the first clean-up of the barn, and would appreciate and welcome ANYONE and everyone to come take the first steps toward the creation of what will be, I am sure, one of New England's most desirable performance venues!
None of this could have happened without the continued community support from all of our Brandonian neighbors, and I cannot wait to share this weekend and all subsequent events with each of you soon - like... THIS WEEKEND!!
All my absolute best!
At long last, the information concerning the acquisition of the new BARN OPERA House is public, and we are getting everything in order to be able to be as prepared as possible to get this out to every opera-lover in New England! As this project goes forward, I will be using this blog to document the progress and to communicate with our community about advances in the project, as well as highlighting some people without whom, this project would not be possible!
Please sign up for our mailing list at the BARN OPERA homepage, and consider becoming involved in this incredible project that will not only benefit opera lovers of Vermont, but also the community as a whole.
We welcome all emails, comments, words of encouragement, donations of time or resource, and so look forward to being in touch with each of you very soon!
Until then, all my absolute best,
BARN OPERA, Artistic Director
